Woodward Park is closed to the public until sometime in 2026 as a complete renovation of the park takes place. Some of the improvements will include new baseball and softball fields, a new concession stand, paved parking, an American with Disabilities Act playground, and more.
Wateree River Veterans Park is also closed, but likely only until June, as the county builds out its improved boat landing to include a new boat ramp, floating dock, and paved parking for vehicles and trailers.
The county announced via its Facebook page on March 17 that this new playground equipment had been installed at the Mt. Pisgah Community Center. Improvements are also coming soon to parks in Bethune and Westville.

Look through the trees as you drive along West DeKalb Street in Camden between the railroad station and Chestnut Ferry Road and you’ll see a lot exposed dirt. That’s because work is well under way to transform Woodward Park.
At a cost of $10 million — half of which will come from the Health Services District of Kershaw County and MUSC Health — the upgrades will include new baseball and softball fields, a new concession stand, paved parking, an American with Disabilities Act compliant playground and much more. The project is a scaled-down version of what was originally proposed, which would have transformed the park into a sports complex.
