After having used a scheduled four-game preseason tournament in Florence to get the bugs out of their system, the Kershaw County Post 17 Senior American Legion baseball team begins League III play this week with three games in four nights.

Conquering the Carolinas

FEW 360, a youth sports organization started by Brian Chivers, had its girls' 12u AAU/travel basketball team, which is made up of Kershaw County girls 12 years of age and younger, win the NTBA North Carolina State Championship last weekend. It was the team's third tourney title in five weeks. After Few 360 defeated Next Level (SC), 42-16, the local entry defeated the Charlotte Dream Elite, 41-15, in the semifinals before taking down Asheville-based Team Carolina, 41-28, to win the championship. The 35th annual Take a Child Fishing Bass Tournament, in memory of Lib and Tommy Phillips, will be held on Saturday, May 19 at Clearwater Cove Marina on Lake Wateree.

FEW 360, a youth sports organization started by Brian Chivers, had its girls' 12u AAU/travel basketball team made up of Kershaw County girls 12 years of age and younger win the "Spring Splash Basketball Tournament" in Sumter on April 20-22. Congratulations to the KFC basketball team, the Kershaw County Park and Recreation Department 2018 champions in the 10U league. The players and parents would like to offer a "Thank You" to coach Brian and coach Paul for teaching the boys about basketball while being good role models for them. KCP&RD hosts all-star football tourney

The Kershaw County Parks & Recreation Department will host the Central District Youth Football All-star Tournament for the South Carolina Athletic Program (SCAP) Association beginning on Saturday, Nov. 18 and continuing through the championship games on Tuesday, Nov. 28. All games will be played at Lugoff-Elgin Stadium.

Led by a fourth-place finish from senior Garrett Lawson, the Camden boys' cross country team finished fourth in a rugged field of 18 teams at Saturday's Pee Dee Classic Cross Country Invitational hosted by West Florence and South Florence high schools.
