FAC ‘Gallery Gallop’ is Friday

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County and Camden ART (CArt), invite you to join them for the second annual Gallery Gallop, a special gallery and art crawl in downtown Camden. Seven local galleries and businesses will open their doors to the public from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday to highlight local and regional artists and their unique variety of art styles and mediums. Each business taking part in this unique event will be within walking distance of each other and will be showcasing varying works of art and artisan products.

Phillips and Lanious exhibition opens Oct. 20

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County announces a new Bassett Gallery exhibition opening Friday, Oct. 20, prior to the Friday evening performance of The Addams Family -- A New Musical. The Bassett reception will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Catering will be provided by Ashley's of McCaskill's Farm. The exhibition, entitled Beauty & Function, co-mingles two forms of artistic works: paintings by Curtis Phillips alongside Chet Lanious' handmade furniture. This is Phillips' and Lanious' first exhibition at the Bassett Gallery.

National showing

Local artist Denise L. Greer, who lives in the Charlotte-Thompson area of Kershaw County, recently learned her collage, "BLU," shown here, was accepted into the 33rd National Collage Society Show held at Chicago Heights Illinois. Of 367 entries from 39 states and seven countries, the show only accepted 67 pieces. Grier's work can be seen at Travis' Salon at the Greenleaf Villa, 1307 Broad St., Camden.

FAC opens Bassett Gallery with 'Wonderings'

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County announces its opening exhibition in the Bassett Gallery on Sept. 14. The exhibition, entitled "Wonderings," features the work of local artist Amy Sheheen. An opening reception will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 14. The exhibition will run through Oct. 7.

THE SWAMP LOG Artisans Gallery opens in Bishopville

Located in an old building in downtown Bishopville, THE SWAMP LOG is part gift shop, part furniture store, part local history museum and part art gallery. More than 30 area artisans and artists are displaying and selling their creations there. All items are unique, hand-made, heirloom quality pieces, according to owner Alec Blalock.

Auditions for The Addams Family are Aug. 20-21

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County announces upcoming auditions for Camden Community Theatre's production of The Addams Family, a new musical. Auditions will be held Sunday and Monday, Aug. 20 and 21 at 6 p.m. in the Wood Auditorium. The Addams Family will be directed by FAC Educational and Theater Director Jami Steele. Jaston Hawes will serve as the musical director for the production.

FAC receives grant from Duke Energy

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County recently received a $9,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation. Rick Jiran, vice president of community relations for Duke Energy South Carolina, presented the check to FAC Executive Director Kristin Cobb during the Arts Arising program last month.

Arts Arising underway at FAC

Arts Arising, the special arts program that began in 1988 through a partnership with the Kershaw County School District is in full swing at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County with more than 125 children from Kershaw County public schools participating.

CamdenART elects new officers

CamdenART, an affiliate organization of the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County recently elected new officials during the opening reception for the Honors Show & Sale, CamdenART members in attendance had the opportunity to vote new officer positions for the upcoming season, which will begin in September. The membership elected Catherine "Cat" Coulter Lloyd as chairman and Sam Compton as the co-chair. Current chair, Fletcher Bass will step down after four years but will remain active in the organization.

CamdenART Honors Show and Sale opens today

CamdenART, an affiliate organization of the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County will open its annual Honors Show and Sale today with a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Bassett Gallery. This year's exhibition is entitled "From the Earth" and will feature the works of the winners of the CamdenART fall juried show along with other members of CamdenART. KCMA Member-Guest music showcase is Sunday

The Kershaw County Music Association (KCMA,) an affiliate organization of the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County will hold its annual Member-Guest Showcase in celebration of Mother's Day this Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Wood Auditorium. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend this annual event.

FAC seeks artists for 2017-18 season

The Bassett Gallery at the Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County is currently accepting artist materials for consideration for exhibition in the Bassett Gallery to be scheduled from September 2017 through May 2018. Submissions for both solo and group exhibitions will be considered.
